As always, we thank you for your business and wish you continued success.
Dana File Requirements
Illustrator Files:
- All illustrator files should be saved as .ai or .eps files
- If you don't anticipate any text changes, and there is minimal text, convert all type to outlines
- Please supply all support artwork and fonts
- Files accepted in Mac/PC format
- Please refrain from using Illustrator 10/CS effects such as drop shadows.
Quark Files:
- Supply all support images and graphics
- Do not create a document smaller than 25% of the final print size
- Create your document in the exact size of the final trimmed piece
For example: If you are creating a letter-size multiple-page document with facing pages, your page size would be 8.5 x 11, not 11 x 17
- Create multiple-page documents in reader's spreads (page 1, page 2, etc…)
- Extend images that bleed off the document page by an 1/8" (standard)
- Scale images no more than 10% up or down from their original size
- Link images in your Illustrator and PageMaker files. Do not embed them
Photoshop Files:
- Please supply layered files at 300dpi resolution at actual size if possible.
- If artwork is being used at 200%, then resolution should be 600dpi.
Support Files:
- Save all Photoshop files in the CMYK colour mode, which includes any nested or embedded files.
- Submit Photoshop files only in the TIFF or EPS formats (DSC is also an EPS file)
- Delete any alpha channels in a flattened PhotoShop file
- Delete unused colours in the colour palette from Illustrator and Quark
- Turn off JPEG, LZW, or ZIP compression in your PhotoShop Files
Trapping:
- We handle trapping ourselves, so discuss any concerns you have with us.
**NOTE: Trapping for offset lithography and screen printing can be very different.
Fonts:
- Be sure to include the printer and screen font for each Type 1 font.
- Check the font usage window of your page layout program to ensure you have included all your fonts.
- If you have used fonts to create EPS artwork either convert the text to paths or include the font(s).
- Use the actual weight of the typeface, such as Helvetica Bold. Do not use menu styling.
Spelling:
- As a rule, we do not check the spelling of documents because we may not be privy to jargon, product names or special pronouns of other industries. Spell check and proof read your document carefully.
MAC and PC Files:
- We accept Mac files created in QuarkXpress, PageMaker, InDesign, PhotoShop, and Illustrator. We do not accept files created with in Microsoft Word or Publisher.
File Setup Tips:
- Include bleed, trims and dielines for all files. Dielines need to be supplied as vector art.
- Do NOT create type in Photoshop. PhotoShop type is not scalable, and will print with jagged edges.
- Stay away from using Illustrator special effects filters. Create drop shadows in PhotoShop.
